Design systems specialist
A design systems specialist for teams that have outgrown their Figma library.
When a product grows, its design drifts: five versions of the same button, hard-coded colours, and engineers rebuilding what already exists. I fix that with a system built on tokens, clear components and rules people follow.

How I help
- Audit your current library and give you a prioritised plan. Design system audit
- Set up tokens, components and documentation. Design system setup
- Migrate rebrands and themes through tokens, not by redrawing screens.
- Govern with naming, branching, versioning and deprecation rules.
Proof
I built a company’s first design system in Figma from scratch for a live booking app, and when the brand changed mid-build I ran the rebrand as a token migration: old and new staged with variable modes, token groups remapped, and no screen rebuilt by hand.
Questions
What is a design system?
A design system is the shared source of truth for a product’s design: tokens for colour, type and spacing, a library of components, and the rules for using and changing them.
When does a team need a design systems specialist?
Usually when more than one designer or several engineers work on the product, when screens look inconsistent, or before a rebrand, dark mode or a new platform.
How long does a design system take?
It depends on the size of the product. A focused audit takes days; foundations and core components take weeks. I agree the scope in writing after a short call.
